In a medium skillet, heat a little bit of oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onions to skillet and sauté until golden and translucent. 8 - 10 min. Set aside.
Cut broccoli crowns into small florets. Stems may also be finely chopped and added, if desired. Place broccoli in a medium or large bowl.
Add sautéed onions, dried cranberries and smoked almonds to broccoli bowl. Mix thoroughly.
Add half of the dressing to the bowl and mix thoroughly. If the broccoli is still a bit dry, continue to incorporate more of the dressing until the salad reaches desired consistency.
